Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story. (from Desiderata)
I still contend that we need to hear words of wisdom during these troubling times. We seem to be hearing so little wisdom from the movers and shakers and leaders in our country. I hope you like some of these:
No one can make a greater mistake than he who does nothing because he can only do so little. (Edmund Burke) Anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job. (Douglas Adams) When I was a boy, I was told that anybody could become President, I’m beginning to believe it. (Clarence Darrow) Yesterday is history; tomorrow is a mystery. Today is our gift. That’s why we call it the” present”.
We can talk about what’s wrong in the world, or we can try to do what’s right. If you try to please everyone, you might not please anyone, but if you please yourself, you’ll know that one person is pleased. Grant me, O Lord, a sunny mind: thy windy will to bear. (Emily Dickinson) You don’t know how strong you are until you have to be strong.
If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. If you can’t run with the big dogs, stay on the porch. There was a job that anybody could do, but everybody thought that somebody would do it, so nobody did. There are three kinds of people; those that make things happen; those that watch things happen; and those who wonder what happened. If you don’t prioritize your life, someone else will.
The price of greatness is responsibility. (Winston Churchill) Reality is a nice place to visit, but I wouldn’t want to live there. (Ashleigh Brilliant) Can you be the change that you want to see? Do nice guys finish last? Feel the fear, but do it anyhow. Courage is fire, and bullying is smoke. (Benjamin Disraeli) Is the glass half empty or half full? If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs and blaming it on you. If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you; but make allowance for their doubting , too.. (Rudyard Kipling)
May you find your own words of wisdom and May you live long and prosper.
